I bought this for off-shore sail racing. Our rules require a knife that can be opened with one hand, on your person at all times. We wear inflatable life jackets, so a blunt tip is a good idea, and I love the tip on this one. My only complaint is that it is a bit large for my hands. I can open it with one hand (the "cobra hole cap" is great) but not quickly. I made the mistake of trying to close it one handed. I really hope this thing can go through line like it went through my finger. If I ever have to cut myself or a crew-mate lose I have no doubt that this knife will do the job, but if I don't have two hands free to close it it may be a gift to Davy Jones. Pros: Sharp, solid blade with a blunt tip Cons: Just a bit large for my hand
I've been looking for a emergency assist combination product and this is a great find. I am very satisfied with the overall design of the product. The handle size is good for most hands but I would recommend using a glove if you ever find yourself in a position where you need to break a window. It would be nicer to have a friendlier material for the handle but this is not a deterrent. The toothy blade is easy to pull open using the cobra hood, it is very sharp, and will do most cutting jobs. Getting the whistle to blow will take some practice but it is a nice feature if you ever need it.
