Had another pricey competitor's castle nut system that included a small screw to "stake" the castle nut in place. However, persistent recoil caused the castle nut to come loose anyway . . . much to my disappointment and displeasure. But, more than irritating, it created an unsafe situation. So far, so good with the Primary Weapons System. Still need to give it a bit more time on the range - but I believe this system is the answer to my problem.

This is a really nice unit. Very easy to install and the ratcheting mechanism works great. My only issue is with the overall look/finish. It’s very nice quality but the finish doesn’t match very well with standard forged lowers, and it doesn’t match that well with my Billet upper/lower combo. It’s just a little too shiny of a finish. I assume it looks great with a PWS receiver set. Overall it’s very nice, and function is excellent...and I would recommend it.

I found these after building a PWS lower with PWS buffer tube/ castle nut and end plate combo. Since then, I’ve purchased the end plate/ castle nut combo to replace several others. The install is straight forward and eliminates the need to stake the castle nut, due to the ratcheting tension between the ribbed edge of the castle nut and a detent on the end plate. Only issue I had was with a cheaply made buffer tube where the end plate had too much play and would not allow the ratcheting effect of the PWS system. I replaced the buffer tube and it worked like a charm, once the play was eliminated. Great product!

I was getting tired of staking my castle nut so I found this by browsing this site and after researching it a bit more by reading reviews and watching videos...I ordered it pretty quick. Optics Planet ships fairly quickly and this product is better than expected. Goes on like any other end plate and castle nut, except for being an upgraded part that ratchets itself into place. The quick detach sling point is a bonus. I HIGHLY recommend this very high quality/low priced upgrade.

I received the PWS ratchet end plate with a bundle purchase to finish a build. Upon installing it I noticed that the pin was missing that holds the castle nut in place and acts as the ratchet. This missing part prevents the castle nut from being held securely. I called Optics Planet customer service and explained my dilemma and they sent out a replacement right away. The new one installed flawlessly and I will be using these more often.

I own a couple of these now and love them. Super high-quality and you will never have to worry about staking your castle nut. If you have the extra money to get their buffer tube as well as they do sell this as a set. As always Optics Planet was right on the money with fast shipping and excellent service!

Nice, parkarized finish and easy to install. If you want to avoid staking your nice AR parts, this is the solution. I was able to get this on with a rag and a pair of channel locks. It has the feel of a quality, rigged item suited for any type of build.

First time building an AR15 and wasn’t sure what would be the best option. Ordered the ratcheting set because the price was good and I like the extra secured part of it. Was super easy to install and it not only gives me piece of mind but looks good aswell

I'm a big fan of anything that's smart. And this end plate certainly is. It's well made and installs quickly. You don't need a ton of torque to hold the RE in place, or to keep it there. Take your time, and really just snug it down, making sure the pin lands one of the grooves and not a high point on the castle nut (although it probably doesn't really matter, honestly). The QD socket is an added bonus and I think the ratchet teeth look cool. And everyone knows nothing else matters unless you look cool. If you have an existing build that's all locked down I don't think you should mess with replacing your end plate, unless you need/want a QD end plate. But for a new build I really like these and think they are the way to go. They also keep you from having to stake the castle nut, which isn't hard, but if you every swap out your RE this makes doing so a lot easier.

This is one accessory that you should have. No longer do you have to stake the end plate and castle nut. Primary Arms product makes a solid connection that will not backoff unless you undo the mechanism.

Items were received as describes, finish was good and both the plate and nut seemed to be well made. Installation was simple and worked as described. I will use these on all my AR's now and never go back to staking the castle nuts.

Forget about having to stake your castle nuts. Ratcheting system works great and is easy to release. I bought 3 and changed out three weapons. Highly recommend and as usual, Optics Planet is great to do business with. Sic Semper Tyrannis.

This is the best End Plate and Castle Nut I have used. It is too easy to install. No need to stake and it stays put. I don't know why I waited so long to start using them. I will be putting them on my other builds from now on.

Does as advertised. Primary Weapons quality is excellent. I like to make modifications and try different parts out, this end plate makes assembly and changes easy and no staking involved. QD port an added bonus.

Great product. Installed on 300 BO Pistol. Easy installation. Castle nut is very secure. Appears to be of quality construction. The integrated QD mount gives the shooter an additional option for a sling mount

Installed these on a 10.5 inch 300 blackout pistol. I really like the way this nut locks into the end plate. I will be buying another one for my next build. Also Opticsplanet shipped these very fast. Very easy shopping.

First product was missing the ratcheting pin, so had a slightly frustrating shipping delay, but it’s fine. Product is awesome (as with all PWS) when quality control does their jerb. While that is about all there is to say about this product, the site is requiring me to add more words so I can submit my review. This is a pretty simple product, so I’m not sure what else Optics Planet expects me to come up with here.

Why didn’t I use these ratcheting castle nuts before!? Easy to install and the best part about these...no staking required! I will be using the ratcheting style castle nuts on all my new builds. Thanks Optics planet for always having a great selection of products to choose from!

Couldn’t be happier with these! These are great! Supper easy to install and remove when needed! PWS for the win! Matched perfectly with my Bootleg Upper and Spikes Lower Build! Being able to use these without having to mar up the buffer tube is great. Makes switching between builds easy as well. If you’re indecisive like I am!

The Ratchet Lock Castle Nut End Plate set works with mil-spec OR commercial buffer tubes and eliminates the need for staking. A quick upgrade to any rifle build, the Ratchet Lock Castle Nut End Plate features a QD mount and easy installation with any buffer tube. Lockup is great. I've installed it on just about all of my ARs. I would not build an AR without it.

This thing is fantastic. Genius, actually. The knurled/slotted ring around the castle nut is what makes the "ratchet" sound as it is tightened and held in place by the protruding pin on the end plate. Time will tell, but I have no reason to suspect the nut will loosen. One point though, if you have a stock or pistol cheek rest which butts up against the castle nut, you might have to relieve your stock/cheek rest a bit to allow for the QD sling hole which protrudes from the base of the castle nut. In my case, this was easy. I have a Thordsen pistol cheek rest that has a little cover plate in that area that is easily ground down. I won't be able to use the QD mount anyway, because the Thordsen cheek rest covers part of it. But that's okay since the cheek rest has its own QD holes.

So glad to not have to stake my castle nut. This thing offers a much smarter alrernative. Never backs off thanks to the ratchet system, yet easy to take off when you need to, unlike a staked nut. Rock solid as well, no complaints here.

I Bought one from Opticsplanet for building an AR for a friend recently, love it, just tighten it up and call it a day, not need to stake castle nut and you can unlock it anytime when you want to change your buffer tube or your take down pin. Took the gun to the range shot 200 rounds and it did not move at all, turning out I bought another 3 from here for my own ARs. Great price, can't beat the deal anywhere else.

The mechanism works well. I'd be happy to put it on all my ARs, and it makes the castle nut install a little more predictable, and less likely to damage the threads with the tool. QD socket also works well.

Best invention to put on your lower/buffer assembly. No more having to stake your Castle Nut to the End Plate! If you ever want to replace buffer this little baby will save you a lot of time and hassle. Excellent fit/finish/color. Easy install. Plus it's got a QD hole for your sling/harness. Always good to have another place for your QD so that you can get your piece balanced where you want. Changes the weight just enough so it'll "cant" a little bit more than if your strap is attached to the butt stock. Buy these without reservation! Use your Planet Optics Bucks and a sale for even a better price.. Oh yeah, FREE SHIPPING/RETURNS at Planet Optics!

I really like this product. It is a fantastic idea, and provides the AR builder with a great alternative to staking the castle nut. The ratchet locks up tight - it is easy to remove if you want to change out your buffer tube. The items come in a very nice package. Optics planet did a nice job shipping. Thank you.

I'm really happy that I saw this ratcheting castle nut system mentioned in a TFB article and was able to find it here on OpticsPlanet! I included this ratcheting castle nut on my first two builds, where there was a very high probability that I would go full-on "adult lego" and end up swapping in/out a lot of parts. By the time I got my lower Cerakoated and assembled with the rifle-length adjustable buffer tube I eventually swapped in, I had assembled and disassembled the whole lower four times. Not only was this easy to assemble and disassemble with just an armorer's wrench, this holds securely without staking, and was also able to be Cerakoted to match my lower without interfering with the ratchet system. This thing is awesome, I love it!

Works how it’s supposed too. It installed crazy easy and simple. It locks down really tight. No movement. I’ll put this on any weapon I run. I’ll definitely buy again. I put it on an Aero Precision lower.

Much easier than a traditional castle nut. Don’t worry about it backing out, and super easy to install. Will be putting these on all current and future rifles. Shipping however was extremely slow. Over a month after my purchase did i receive the product
